Value, Family Bonding & Great Golf

This past weekend saw the conclusion of the 21st Annual Family Golf Week featuring the Father-Son Team Classic along with our newest addition, thersz_families_at_family_golf_week Parent-Child Team Classic. Although the doors have closed for this year’s successful event, here’s a few reasons why you should circle it on your calendar for next year.

For the past two decades, the Father-Son Team Classic has been one of the most popular family golf events in the entire nation. Sons, uncles, fathers, cousins, distant cousins … you name it. Family members of virtually all types have participated in this event. And with the addition of the Parent-Child Team Classic this year to Family Golf Week, moms, daughters and grandparents have now been brought into the conversation. With 350 groups representing 42 states along with three countries including Canada, Ireland and the United Kingdom, it goes without saying that Family Golf Week sure knows how to host a world-class event.

Although all of us at Family Golf Week prides ourselves on hosting such a popular event, we are arguably most boastful of the principle for which we stand: family bonding. This opportunity for fun and family camaraderie is unlike any other. “It’s the one thing every year that we both just look forward to,” said Ken Halaby, a 14 year veteran of the Father-Son Team Classic. The event is the perfect excuse to spend quality time together and take a dream trip to Myrtle Beach. “The night before the tournament is like Christmas Eve for adults,” Halaby said.

In addition to family bonding, the event itself is also a great opportunity to meet people with similar interests. “A lot of these people come and make new friends and second families,” said Tournament Director Scott Tomasello.

The Father-Son and Parent-Child Team Classics also provide an exceptional amount of value. This year’s entry fee was $995 per team and included Family Golf Night at 2018 Family Golf Weekthree rounds of golf, daily lunch and a Family Golf Night catered by Logan’s Roadhouse. Each participant also received a gift bag valued at more than $600 consisting of a commemorative logo hat, shirt and bag tag along with a few other goodies. A new addition to this year’s gift bags included a $150 Family Golf Week gift card to be used at any of the host courses in the pro shop on food or beverages, or practice rounds.

Aside from the tangible benefits, the golf options at both the Father-Son and Parent-Child Team Classics are unlike any other. This year’s course lineup included Arcadian Shores, the Love Course at Barefoot Resort, Crow Creek, the Heathland Course at Legends Resort, Rivers Edge, Wild Wing Plantation and Wachesaw Plantation East. Of these courses, some have been recently renovated, one was previously an LPGA venue, and one was named the “Myrtle Beach Golf Course of the Year.”

You won’t find a tournament of this caliber with this kind of value anywhere else. So, call mom or dad or grandma or grandpa and pick your partner for next year’s event. It’ll be one of the most memorable things you ever do with them, we guarantee it.
